RV Rack Picture from a Star Trek Fan

One of our customers recently put up with several shipments that UPS destroyed. He was delighted to finally get the product he ordered, undamaged, and mount it on his RV.

Here is the final solution, despite UPS efforts to keep it from happening!

Yakima Kayak Rack and Base Rack for 1998 Honda Accord

Customer Question:

I’m hoping you can help me figure out which car roof rack would work best for us. We have a ’98 Honda Accord sedan, with absolutely nothing on the roof right now except for the paint. We’d like to transport two kayaks now, in the future we might like to put some bikes up there (but this is not essential). We have no idea how long the car will last, so it’d be lovely if the roof rack could transfer onto a new vehicle, specs unknown.

I’ve checked out the Yakima system, which looks doable. But are there other alternatives, and would the Yakima transfer to another car easily?

Racks for All Recommendation:

The Yakima configuration will transfer to another car in some cases, but in most you would need to at least replace the Q clips.

I have configured a good Yakima base rack with a set of kayak racks that will do nicely on your Accord:

Yakima NEW Q Towers - set of four
Qty: 1

Yakima 48 inch Roundbars
Qty: 1

Yakima Q92 Clips
Qty: 1

Yakima Q93 Clips
Qty: 1

Yakima Fairing 44"
Qty: 1

Yakima HullRaiser Aero w/tie down
Qty: 2

Please note that the fairing is optional but cuts down on wind noise.

Note that all of the Yakima products will work with this base rack system, you can shop for accessories from this starting point:

Cargo Rack for 2003 Honda Accord

Customer Request:
I have a son who is going off to college this fall. I would like to get some type of roof luggage carrier system to help get his items to school. I have a 4door sedan, Honda Accord, 2003 car. Please suggest what I might be able to purchase to fit my car and that would be EASY to install.
Racks for All Recommendation:
Happy to help.

Thule has a nice custom fit for your Accord that is EASY to install. I have picked out a large cargo bag that has excellent features and is easier to handle and store than cargo boxes:

Hitch Rack for a 2003 Subaru Outback

Customer Question:
I drive a 2003 Subaru Outback with a 1.25” ball trailer hitch.

I thought I could put the Yakima Hold Up … to carry 4 bikes.
I just learned I cannot.

Is there a hitch mount that will hold 4 bikes.
Do I have to trade out the 1.25” hitch for a 2” hitch?
Recommendation:
This limitation has to do with the rating of the hitch, and the geometry of the HoldUp-style rack.

I would recommend the Thule 954 :

https://www.racksforall.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2645

for four bikes on your Outback, presuming it is rated a Class II (300 pound tongue weight) – see your owner’s manual. If it is a Class I (200 pound tongue weight), you will need to stick to 2 bike racks or put all four on the roof.

Mont Blanc Cross Bars for a 2006 Honda Odyssey

Customer Request:
Hi,

-what is the difference in these two Mont Blanc products?

MON_MB3747-AW-02

MON_MB3747-AW

-the fit guide is quite confusing as it does not seem to list the AeroWing Bars. What product number will I need for a 2006 honda odyssey?
Racks for All Recommendation:
You would need to pick from a black finish rectangular bar set:

https://www.racksforall.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1574

or the aero-wing style silver set:

https://www.racksforall.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1461

which are nicer looking, more aerodynamic and slightly more expensive.

Recommendations on Best Hitch Mount Rack?

Customer Questions:
I'm looking for a hitch mounted, 4 bike, platform rack and have read a few good reviews about the two swagman products (XTC4 and XC2 w/ XC4 addon), the Sportrack 4EZ 2, and the Hollywood sport rider 4SE. Do you have any recomendations on one of these products based on your observations and customer feedback? I want rack to be very solid and stable, heavy is OK, and one that is easy to load 4 adult size bikes. I don't really care about how easy it is to swing down, or fold up.
Racks for All Recommendations:
We’ve had good luck with the XTC4 (SWG_64665)

https://www.racksforall.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2450

and the SportRack A30902:

https://www.racksforall.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2691

The overall best solutions by far are the Yakima HoldUp and Thule T2, but the cost of each is about $200 more and the folding features are not important to you.
