RE: Question

Customer Questions:

I'm interested in taking three to four bikes with me while towing a tent trailer. I see my options but im still not sure which way to go, so I would like to ask for your opinion. I'm looking at the Surco 4 Bike, Slide Over, ProRac Ball Mount 3 Bike Carrier, TopLine Camping Trailer Bike Rack, and also the ProRac Tent Trailer Bike Carrier - 4 bikes. I understand most of the pros and cons like some only can carry 3 or 2, also some are more expensive, but one of my concerns would if the surco 4 bike, slide over would put to much weight on my receiver and can it truly hold 4 bikes. I'm towing a 2004 Coleman tent trailer. I like the prorac tent trailer bike carrier but if I ever want to take the bikes with out the trailer I wouldn't be able to. So if you can give me your professional advice or give me any other options. I'm towing it with a 2004 dodge truck with a hard tonneau cover and not sure of the class hitch which came with the truck from the dealer with the towing package.

Racks for All Recommendations:

The Surco rack you have chosen is a good one. Given the fact that most bikes weight about 30 pounds, and the rack itself is about 35 pounds, you will want to check on the rating of the hitch. Given the fact that you are driving a truck with a towing package, you will probably be just fine. Here is the ordering link:

Also, you may want to review the various Swagman towing racks that we carry:

Some may work well for you, depending on the features you need. Check the towing weight limits, though – 3500 pounds is typical.
