Bike rack fit advice for BMW wagon

Customer Fit Request:

I own a 2006 BMW 530xi wagon and plan to install a 1 1/4" hitch to carry a bike rack.

Ideally, I would like to carry up to 3 bikes on the back of the car, and will require a fold-down model so I can access the rear of the wagon while the rack is attached.

What can you recommend for me? I will also consider a 2-bike model if necessary.

Racks for All Recommendation:

You will want to check with the hitch shop or dealer on the tongue weight rating for the receiver. If it is a Class I or II, you may not be able to carry 4 bikes. The racks weight about 50-60 pounds and bikes usually 30-40 each.

I would strongly recommend the Thule T2 (917):

and if your hitch can handle it, the 918 add-on listed at the bottom of the page. I have this rig on a Volvo XC70 and just love it.

Don’t forget locks for your bikes and a locking hitch pin.
