Ski Rack for Perrycraft Roof Rack

Customer Question: I installed a Perrycraft roof rack on my Chevy HHR last summer and would like to add a ski rack. What do you recommend?

Racks for All Recommendation: Most of our ski racks will fit the Perrycraft crossbars.

I would recommend the Yakima Powderhound w/Locks or the Yakima FatCat 4 w/Locks.

Note the manufacturer’s winter sports kickback rebate program - $20 off.

Canoe Rack for a Subaru Forester 2009 with factory rails

Customer Question:

I have a Subaru Forester with factory rails but not cross bars and need to carry my canoe. Can you help?

Racks for All Recommendation:

If I am correct, Thule recommends a new setup for your Forester that uses the mounting points on the vehicle to make a great custom fit that does not use the factory rails. This provides strength and stability for a load like a canoe.

Here is the fit recommendation from Thule:

Thule Rapid Podium Foot Pack

Qty: x 1

Thule Rapid Load Bars (Set of 2)

Qty: x 1

Thule Podium Fit Kit 4005 for Fix Point Vehicles

Qty: x 1

Thule Canoe Carrier

Qty: x 1

Thule Fairing 871XT (Medium)

Qty: x 1

Thule Lock Cylinders (4 Pack)

Qty: x 1

I have included a popular Thule Canoe carrier.

Please note that the fairing is optional but cuts down on wind noise, and locks are completely optional.

Note that all of the Thule products will work with this base rack system, you can shop for accessories from this starting point.

Stowaway2 Max fit for Ford E250 Motorhome

Customer Question:

I have a class B motorhome built on a Ford E350 chassis, with the original barn doors in the rear. It has a class III 2” hitch. My question is, are the 2 rear doors still able to be fully opened with the Max Plus Swingaway installed and swung out? Do you have a video showing this operation?

Racks for All Guidance:

The StowAway on a SwingAway frame will work on the back of a Ford E350 with barn style doors. The left door will open fully, and we will usually put a low profile T-bolt on the latch mechanism to ensure clearance. The right door will open 70-90 degrees, allowing access, but not opening fully.

We do not have a video of the StowAway on a vehicle with the barn doors, but StowAway has a video of the the product how it works.

I have also attached a picture of the StowAway on our shop vehicle, which is a Ford E250. One of the pictures shows the box locked at 90 degrees from the rear of the vehicle, and the other show the box swung out at 180 degrees.

Bike Rack System for Two Mazda 3s

Customer Question:

I currently have a 2007 Mazda 3 (4dr) and 2008 Mazda 3 (4dr). I am looking for a roof mount system that will fit both and carry two to three bikes. Two will most definitely be road bikes and one would be an older mountain bike. How would I go about selecting these racks?

Racks for All Recommendation:

Thule has a good custom fit that will work on both model year vehicles – I have added two popular road bike racks and an upright rack for your mountain bike:

Thule Aero Foot Pack

Qty: x 1

Thule 50 Inch Load Bars (1 Pair)

Qty: x 1

Thule Fit Kit 2151

Qty: x 1

Thule Big Mouth Upright

Qty: x 1

Thule Echelon

Qty: x 1

Note that all of the Thule products will work with this base rack system, so you can shop for other bike racks or accessories from this starting point.

Bike rack fit advice for BMW wagon

Customer Fit Request:

I own a 2006 BMW 530xi wagon and plan to install a 1 1/4" hitch to carry a bike rack.

Ideally, I would like to carry up to 3 bikes on the back of the car, and will require a fold-down model so I can access the rear of the wagon while the rack is attached.

What can you recommend for me? I will also consider a 2-bike model if necessary.

Racks for All Recommendation:

You will want to check with the hitch shop or dealer on the tongue weight rating for the receiver. If it is a Class I or II, you may not be able to carry 4 bikes. The racks weight about 50-60 pounds and bikes usually 30-40 each.

I would strongly recommend the Thule T2 (917):

and if your hitch can handle it, the 918 add-on listed at the bottom of the page. I have this rig on a Volvo XC70 and just love it.

Don’t forget locks for your bikes and a locking hitch pin.

Car Bike Racks for 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with Factory Rack

Customer Question: I am looking to add a single bike rooftop rack to my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. It has a factory rack with factory crossbars. What would be some good options to look into?

Racks for All Suggestions:

Many of our bike racks will work with your Pacifica factory rack. There are two major types of roof bike racks – fork mount and tray. The fork mount racks require the removal of the front wheel and are usually used by very serious bike riders. I’ll recommend the tray mount type, which is easier to use.

Here are a few good options:
